IONE EXCHANGE

Purpose

IX unit is designed for elimination of various chemical elements and organic compounds from the water.

Softening

Purpose – elimination of water hardness salts (Ca and Mg). Strong acid cation ion-exchange resin is used. The water is filtered through the resin where Ca and Mg ions are replaced by Na ions during the process. The resin is regenerated with NaCl or KCl solution when exhausted. It is used in industrial water treatment for use in industrial processes.
 
Quality of supplied waterSurface (processed by ultrafiltration membranes), municipal, deep waters – without iron, manganese hardness ions (or treated with reagents)
Hardness of treated water0.02 mg-ekv/l (meq/l) or 0.005 mg-ekv/l (meq/l) – using a packed-bed counterflow regeneration technology. In case of lower quality requirements, water quality is adjusted by dilution/mixing method.
Capacity of the standard softening filter unit1 m3/h – 200m3/h. *capacity of the designed system is not limited

Demineralization

Purpose – demineralization of the water. Strong/weak acid cation ion-exchange resins and strong/weak base anion ion-exchange resins are used. The water is filtered through the cation ion-exchange resin where the cations are replaced by H ions, and then the water is filtered through the anion ion-exchange resin where anions are replaced by OH ions during the process. The cation resin is regenerated with HCl or H2SO4 acid solution, the anion resin is regenerated with NaOH alkaline solution when exhausted. The most efficient packed-bed counterflow regeneration technology is used. It is used in industrial water treatment for use in industrial processes.

Organics elimination

Purpose – elimination of the organic compounds from the water. Anion ion-exchange resin is used. The water is filtered through the resin where organic compounds are removed by adsorption/ion exchange principle during the process. The resin is regenerated with NaCl or NaOH solution when exhausted. It is used in industrial water treatment for use in industrial processes.
